Safe Bikes for Safe Riding

There has always been a focus within the cycling community to keep people safe while they ride their bikes and over the years a number of different safety items have been added to the various safety options offered up by companies such as specialized bicycle shoes that keep feet in place on a bike, bells that alert other people nearby that a bike is passing and various additional reflectors which can help passing cars see that a bike is close by. But some people are suggesting that another type of safety needs to be practiced as well and that’s safety regarding the potential for bicycle theft.

In some areas of the United States some bicycle thefts have increased significantly and although some bicycles are found, it is often rare to figure out who stole the bike in the first place and some bikes aren’t even claimed after they’re found because the owner has no idea that a place might exist for stolen bikes to be housed after they are recovered. And bicycles don’t always offer a way to figure out who is the owner of the vehicle, especially since they are usually not endowed with a personally identifying number such as a car might be that is also tied to a specific owner.

This is why law enforcement agencies are suggesting that people up their game as far as keeping the bicycles safe and have suggested that it’s important for people to look into various safety options such as improved locks and even keeping bikes inside the home.
